Box for the Birds, a family business in Athens, Ga., began when their daughter's Montessori school had a birdhouse theme auction.  Artist and designer Michael Oliveri applied his interlocking plywood technique from his furniture line to the

task- seven flat pieces with pre-drilled holes on the back for hanging, and a birdhouse kit was hatched.

The first one sold to the highest bidder and pre orders were taken. Michael made a website, Laura started marketing and sales, and Bianca tested prototypes with her friends. 

 

Within 30 minutes of hanging the first Original birdhouse on their porch, a couple of wrens began nesting and they've had wren and bluebird families every year since 2009.

 

The Box for the Birds is sold in stores and online across the USA and internationally.
